Summary
“A doctor should heal the wounded and rescue the dying. From the time I was an intern to now, a total of 15 patients died regardless of my treatment. After Zhi Xiao gave Gu Wei a private cello improv performance in an empty auditorium, she emphasized again that she thinks Gu Wei is an extremely good doctor. This affirmation visibly affected Gu Wei and taking a deep breath, he sat down beside Zhi Xiao and poured out his self-doubts, curious to hear what she has to say. Zhi Xiao shares how her grandfather taught her about the goals of a doctor and how she understood Gu Wei to be someone who wants to be an even better doctor. Just then the auditorium bangs open and a security guard’s flashlight shines upon them. In a panic Zhi Xiao drags Gu Wei away. It turns out that there was no such thing as “music student ritual” and they don’t have permission to be there.
While sitting together outside side by side, Zhi Xiao checks her phone and squeals, grabbing Gu Wei’s hand happily. It turns out her teacher has decided to give her another chance to be a cellist in the orchestra. Gu Wei tells her to release his hand and she tells him he can sanitize his hand, which he did before she could even finish the sentence. In surprise, Zhi Xiao blurts out, “If you’re like this, how can you have a girlfriend? You can’t even hold her hand.” Gu Wei smiled and said “Actually, there are ways around that.”
The next day, Gu Wei goes to visit his late teacher’s wife. Walking around his late-teacher’s study, he reflects on the words on the wall “Never forget why you started.”
“I swear I will try my best to take medical measures that I believe are beneficial to patients. I won’t bring pain or damage to them. I’ll work and live blamelessly.”

The next day, after making his rounds, he calls Zhi Xiao out into the hall—he has decided to do Papa Lin’s surgery. He had tested and confirmed it himself that his hand tremors are under control, and he held up his hand for Zhi Xiao to inspect. But Zhi Xiao misinterpreted his intentions, grabs his hand and shakes it enthusiastically. As Dr. Gu was discussing the surgery with Zhi Xiao, Papa Lin walks by the entrance of the room to go to the washroom and overheard the word “cancer operation.” Coldness washed over him. He was instantly stupefied.
Sitting on the bed with an apple, Papa Lin did not feel entirely there. Looking over at his wife and Zhi Xiao acting like nothing was wrong, laughing and joking with him, while Dr. Gu’s voice talking about the surgery loops like a carousel in his head—is this all real? Or a nightmare?
That day after waking up and discovering his wife and daughter were gone from the room, Papa Lin’s temper suddenly exploded when his wife and Zhi Xiao came back. Seeing his temper is still boiling, Zhi Xiao and Mama Lin left the room to give him time to cool off.
Evening came and Papa Lin has made up his mind. Once Zhi Xiao and Mama Lin left the room, Papa Lin brought out his backpack and changed back to his street clothes. There is another place he needs to be.
Where is Papa Lin going? What will happen once Zhi Xiao and Mama Lin finds out he is gone?

Review: Drink More Hot Water
Alright, I’m not going to write much because I’m just heart eyes over the way Gu Wei treats Zhi Xiao right now. Gyah! I’m getting cavities and am at risk of losing all my teeth cuz the sweetness is just GYAAAAAH!
Dr. Gu’s concerned expression when he sees Zhi Xiao bent over from menstrual cramps; Dr. Gu rushing into the convenience store making a beeline to the Kotex aisle, throwing all feelings of embarrassment to the wind; Dr. Gu asking the cashier what else would help ladies with cramps and buying additional necessities—heat pad and hot beverage—for Zhi Xiao; Dr. Gu rubbing the heat pad between his hands to warm it up for Zhi Xiao; Dr. Gu giving Zhi Xiao’s hand a reassuring squeeze promising her that they will find her father.
Dr. Gu, you are just too good! I need to see more of you two!
