When “Made To Love” 《光点》dropped in the spring of 2020, I was still unaware and not yet a fan of Xiao Zhan. I did not become interested in the Chinese entertainment scene until later in the fall of 2020. So this recount of the event and the excitement surrounding the release of this song is collected from reading, observing, and conversing with XFXs who were present at the time.
Xiao Zhan’s digital single was released at 12am on April 25, 2020 without prior announcement nor promotion. The launch of this song came around the time when the cyberbullying of Xiao Zhan and XFX was at its height and XFX was lost and worried about Xiao Zhan, who is usually active on Weibo but hasn’t made an update in a long while. This was also during the heavy pandemic year when there were a lot of stress, fear and uncertainty about the unknown. When the song dropped at midnight, it came like a ray of sunshine bringing light, love and hope to many. Whether if you’re a fan or just someone who chanced upon the song, the infectious, upbeat melody and the positive message just projects feel-good energy to start your day!
Xiao Zhan’s “Made To Love” holds the Guinness world record for fastest-selling digital release within 24 hours and made it to number 7 on the IFPI Global Digital Single Chart 2020.

“Made To Love” finally launched on iTunes and Apple Music and debuted at #27 on World Wide iTunes chart! 🥳
We iXFX were all over Twitter with trending hashtags, reporting the latest chart updates by respective countries, and just keep pushing the word out that the long awaited single has launched! I woke up the next day to find “Made To Love” has charted up to the top three on the Canadian iTunes Chart! And within a few hours it reached #1!!!!!
And towards evening, “Made To Love” shot to #2 on the Wordwide iTunes Chart and entered #1 in 14 countries!!!🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 Xiao Zhan also entered at #47 in the Global Digital Artist Ranking!!!
