On June 9, 2018, Xiao Zhan’s guest spot in episode 8 of Produce 101 aired. In the show, he was one of 6 celebrity seniors assigned to a group of girls as they compete to debut in a girl group. For the show, Xiao Zhan chose the song “I Am Just This Kind of Girl” 《我就是这种女孩》which happens to be assigned to team Meng MeiQi. A year later and we would see both Xiao Zhan and Meng MeiQi starring in the movie “Jade Dynasty.” Wei DaXun, the male lead of the 2016 drama “Shuttle Love Millennium 2,” that Xiao Zhan made a short appearance in as Liang lao ban, was also a celebrity senior in the show.
The minute Xiao Zhan flew in to the show’s location, he got down to rehearsing the song, choreography, and staging with the girls. Suffice to say, out of all six teams, Xiao Zhan and Meng MeiQi team won the popular vote for the best performance.
Team Meng MeiQi comprised of Gao QiuZi, Liu RenYu, Mimi Lee, Meng MeiQi, Wang Ting, and Xu MengJie. Very talented ladies who can sing and dance.
