XNine Channel premiered on Nov 19, 2016 and was broadcasted every Saturday at 7pm on Tencent.
The first episode is themed “XNine get Boy Power”《玖要get男子力》. Peng ChuYue and Wu JiaCheng cohosts the show with a puppet named Jiu Mei. This first episode encouraged audience participation by submitting their challenge to two XNine boys and then competing with them on the show. Every time the boys successfully completes a challenge, they will launch into an “idol dance.” But if they fail the challenge, they will have to wear a mask, and the only time they can take off the mask is if the next boy wins the challenge. Audiences were also encouraged to go online to vote for their favourite XNine boy and the top three boys will get the opportunity to perform their own solo show on the next episode. Audiences can also win meet-and-greet tickets and XNine debut concert tickets.
Xiao Zhan was chosen to complete the 60secs pull-up-the-pants-without-hands challenge, was nominated for the pull-up-and-sing challenge, and was chosen again for the luggage challenge. Suffice to say, our Zhan Zhan is a game pro and he successfully completed all the challenges.
In the second half of the episode, Jiu Mei announced that votes have been tallied and two XNine boys will get to showcase their solo show. First she announced the three runner ups based on the tallied votes and it came out like this:
- Wu JiaCheng
- Xiao Zhan
- Chen ZhiXi
- Xia ZhiGuang
Xiao Mei had the runner ups play rock, paper, scissors to determine who gets to perform their solo show. Chen ZhiXi won and did his solo show. Afterwards, Wu JiaCheng closed the show with his solo show and he had Gu JiaCheng join him in the song.
