In week 6, we’ve reached another elimination round. Our 12 competitors are all incredibly nervous and hyper alert, channeling their emotions into their rehearsals because that is all they can do in the face of the unknown. All competitors are adamant at giving their best performance for a chance to remain on the show.
The theme for Episode 6 is “Love” and their idol mission is to film a short idol drama around the theme of “Love.” I guess we can say “Age 18” is Xiao Zhan’s first venture into acting even though it was theatrically trained Bai Shu who took the lead.
We have a special guest to help the guys in their idol drama! You might recognize Taiwanese actress, Michelle Chen YanXi, if you watched her in the 2014 television drama “The Romance of the Condor Heroes.”
I won”t write too much about their idol drama since it didn’t really make much sense to me It was cringey, to be honest. Sorry to say, but good effort to the writer whomever he/she is.
I love Xiao Zhan’s group song. I especially loved it when Zhan Zhan sang. You can hear how he already has a fan following! So many fans screaming his name! He is so loved!
But despite them throwing a topnotch performance, the judges still ranked them 2nd. I just don’t get it. Their performance had everything: emotions, on-point harmonies, perfect voice control, etc. They weren’t going for the explosive razzle dazzle showmen concept like Chun Chun’s Wu JiaCheng group, who placed 1st (again).
So in this episode, Bin JunJie and Yan XuJia were eliminated. This was the first time to see Xiao Zhan cry on air when Bin JunJie made his goodbye speech…
From here on, both teams will be in their 5 member group and the competition will be taken to a whole new level! Episode 7 onwards to episode 12 finale are my favourite episodes.
