“A Dream Like a Dream” is an 8 hours long theatre epic which follows a terminally ill patient’s journey when medicine cannot diagnose him. It is divided into two parts. Part 1 focuses on the story of Patient no. 5 while part 2 focuses on the story of Gu XiangLan. Part 1 showing is from 2pm-5:30pm and part 2 begins from 7:30pm-11:30pm.

The central theme of the story revolves around the pursuit of life, death, and the repeated patterns of life brought about by life. The whole play is like a huge journey, starting from the end of the protagonist’s life — from the end of the 20th century, from Asia to Europe, from life to death, from pain to the possibility of relief.

The beginning of the story is page 269 of the “Tibetan Book of Life and Death.” A medical student who had just graduated went to work in a large hospital. Five patients on the ward dies that day. When the medical skills were ineffective, the doctor panicked and discovered that her years of school training had not taught her how to really help these dying patients. She could only stand to one side, being a helpless bystander, while these patients died one by one in fear and panic, without any enlightenment or comfort. The doctor spent a lot of energy to encourage the dying “Patient No. 5” to tell his story. From his story, we enter the stories of other characters and their dreams…so the lives of the protagonists, and even the past lives and deaths, begin to interweave together to form this epic journey.

As Patient No. 5 B ; Narrator

In 2015, he officially debuted as a singer with “X-Fire.” Later, he also acted in many television dramas and movies. His main works include “Douluo Continent,” “The Untamed,” “The Wolf,” “The Joy of Life,” “Jade Dynasty,” etc. The characters he portrays are emotionally realistic, distinctive, full of empathy, and well-received by audiences.

On April 2020, he released his single “Made To Love.” The lyrics convey positivity and courage in the face of trials and tribulations, and strongly resonated with listeners.

“A Dream like a Dream” is a brand new journey for me. Whether it is the stage performance or the fullness of the role, it is an unprecedented challenge for me. The life of “No. 5” is actually a condensed and refracted life experience of many people. As far as I am concerned, I “get into a dream” with “No. 5,” experience a series of happy, regretful, absurd or tragic and joyful soul cleansing trip in search of life. I hope that everyone who walks into “A Dream” with us can find themselves in this fantasy dream.
